A guide to finding the right car for you and your family

Posted on: Thursday, October 20th, 2016

In the market for a new car? Here are some ways to find the right vehicle for you and your family.

Start by checking out this list of top safety picks by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety. To qualify for 2016 Top Safety Pick by the IIHS, a vehicle must earn good ratings in five different types of crash tests — small overlap front, moderate overlap front, side, roof strength and head restraints. The vehicle also must have a basic rating for front crash prevention. To qualify for 2016 Top Safety Pick+, a vehicle must earn good ratings in the five crash tests and an advanced or superior rating for front crash prevention.

Is fuel efficiency an important feature? Check out this list of fuel-efficient vehicles. Have a big family? Here’s a list of fuel-efficient SUVs.

It’s always a good idea to check out how much it costs to insure a vehicle before you buy. Some cars cost much more to insure than others! Check out this list of the most and least expensive vehicles to insure. And give your insurance agent a call to discuss what car you are interested in buying before you sign on the dotted line.
