Distracted Driving Facts
Let’s look at distracted driving from a statistical standpoint.
- In 2014, distracted driving caused 10% of fatal crashes and 18% of injury-related crashes, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA).
- “Each day in the United States, approximately 9 people are killed and more than 1,000 injured in crashes that are reported to involve a distracted driver,” according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
- “In 2017 alone, 3,166 people were killed in motor vehicle crashes involving distracted drivers,” according to the NHTSA.
Stop Distracted Driving
To combat this, Cincinnati Insurance and LifeSaver have partnered together to prevent phone-related distracted driving via LifeSaver’s mobile app.
LifeSaver’s mobile app will hinder your employees from being able to use their phones while they’re driving your company vehicle due to an “overridable block” that the app allows.
This mobile app can use location services to track your employee’s phone usage while they’re driving, which will help you to see a log of their phone usage attempts. You’ll even be able to see a score of their driving behavior based on their phone usage or lack thereof.
According to Cincinnati Insurance, “Your low monthly subscription is just $5 per month per phone; and there are no contracts to sign.”
Also, “Activation is simple, relying on deployment that allows your employees to install the app through a dashboard–initiated invitation. There is no hardware to purchase, install or update and the intuitive app works behind-the-scenes – silently and unobtrusively – while being efficient on the phone’s battery.”
