Employment Practice Liability Insurance

Employment Practice Liability Insurance (EPLI) protects the business owner from lawsuits arising out of your interaction with your employees, potential employees and customers, specifically for:

  • Actual or alleged wrongful dismissal, discharge or termination
  • Employment related misrepresentation
  • Employment-related libel, slander, humiliation, defamation or invasion of privacy

  • Vicarious liability for intentional acts
  • Punitive damages
  • Coercion or humiliation in relation to race, marital status, gender, age, physical and/or mental impairments, pregnancy, sexual orientation and any other protected class established by federal, state and local statutes.

According to the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, in excess of 100,000 employment practice related claims were made in 2012. In most cases, the judgment and legal fees can be insurmountable.
